I grew up in Colorado and once I hit the wonderful age of 21, I was able to enjoy the great beer produced in the some best breweries in the country. Colorado is known for it’s many breweries and Denver is host to the biggest beer related festival in the world, The Great American Beer Festival (GABF). I’m actually going to the GABF, for the fourth year in a row, in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait.

And if you didn’t get tickets to the GABF (it’s sold out now) the Denver Beer Fest starts in only 8 days and goes on from September 10th to the 19th. It’s a 10 day celebration of all things beer which includes lots of events, such as the Oktoberfest and many bars and pubs all around downtown Denver offer discounts and beer tours. This is one of the funnest times of the year here in LODO.

A fellow internet marketer I know actually came up with a great infographic with some cool facts about beer and Colorado. Click the infographic for a larger image.

I grew up on 8-Bit Nintendo games. I was completely obsessed with video games as a child. I remember how much I used to love getting sick so that I could stay home an play games all day. I was sweaty, throwing up and coughing and I would still be happy with my Nintendo. Isn’t that sad?

The video below mashes up all my favorite memories into one very weird video. I’m not sure who created it, but I have a feeling whoever did could’ve been a bigger video game addict than I was. What as the guy from Kung Fu fights to save Sylvia by defeating everything from Mario’s Princess to characters from Street Fighter. I believe I even saw Dig Dug in there.

And when it’s all over, there’s a special section dedicated to Mega Man getting pwned all over the place. You have to wait for Sylvia to walk through the Mike Tyson’s Punch Out Scene for a while first, but there are some funny cameos from PacMan and Frieza of DragonBall Z for some reason.

A new service from Google called City Tours is now available in the Google Labs area, meaning the service is still in testing phases, and the idea behind it is really cool. All you have to do is enter the city in which you want to take a tour and the map will update with spots to visit and walking directions for you to travel to get to each spot. They try to give you the most efficient directions possible, which aren’t too bad, but definitely could use some work. They also provide the amount of time it will take to walk to each location and how long you can expect to spend at each spot.

I did a test using a city I know very well, Denver, CO and it came back with a tour that looked quite fun, especially for taking photos. As you can see from the screenshot above (click it for a larger view), it maps out some great places to visit. For some reason, the first location is in Asian language, but it’s actually the state capital. Not sure why that is. I’ve lived in the Denver area my entire life and I’ve never heard of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception or the Mammoth Gardens, so that’s really cool. I think these tours are a great idea and would also be very helpful to print out before going on a vacation.

From what I understand, the company started by selling socks that aren’t exactly the same, yet they still go well together. You can’t buy a pair of socks that match here.

It appears the business has taken off quite well because they now sell socks for boys, babies, women and men. You can even find bedding, furniture and toys. I probably won’t be buying from them, but I had to post about it because I love this idea. I wonder if these socks would be OK to give to my sister for Christmas? I better just put them in her stocking and then give her money so she can buy the next popular phone she’ll most likely be wanting.

Freddie Wong has an obvious passion for video games as you can see by checking out his YouTube channel. Not too long ago, he created a video called “Chrono Trigger: Short Action Scene” which went viral. It wasn’t anything like the game Chrono Trigger, but instead more like Max Payne and Rainbow Six Vegas, but I’m sure he had a reason for naming it that.

So anyway, he just came out with a new video, another one that’s already going viral, called “Time Crisis.” If you have ever visited an arcade, you’ll instantly recognize this game. Not only is this recreation amazing, but Freddie was actually able to get Andy Whitfield to star alongside him in the short film. Whitfield plays Spartacus in the show “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” which airs on the Starz network.

Watch the video below. I love the part with the innocent bystander. Oh, and check out the short Behind the Scenes of Time Crisis with Andy Whitfield video afterwards.

I’m absolutely fascinated with stop-motion art, probably because i know how hard it is and how long it takes to complete even the simplest of stop-motion projects. I’ve done one before back when I was in eight grade (14 years ago) and it was tough. I worked on it every day for two weeks and when it was done, I had a 20 second clip of a couple of army men walking around the table. Not very impressive, but I was pleased with my accomplishment.

Much later, I came across a video from BLU, whom I’m not sure is one person or a group of people.

This is one of the coolest videos I’ve ever seen. It’s quite old now though, at least by internet standards so you’ve probably already seen it.

You might not have seen BLU’s latest project though, which takes stop-motion wall painting to a much higher level. BLU worked on this project for several months and used up hundreds of buckets of paint to complete it. There are lots of other projects and videos on the official BLU website too if you want to check them out.

The first Mortal Kombat was one of the best games ever. I still remember asking my aunt to ask her boyfriend to buy it for his Sega. And when I came over to babysit her kids the next weekend, there it was, ready to be played like there was no tomorrow. I had every fatality memorized within a week.

If you want to see all of those fatalities recreated on paper and in stop-motion form, watch the video below created by animator/filmmaker Eric Power. This is great. I love that he used the original audio from the game too.

Old Spice has taken “viral” to a whole new level in the past couple of days. It all started on Wednesday when Old Spice decided to let the internet world ask the Old Spice guy any question they so desired via Facebook and Twitter. In return, OS Guy was responding with a personalized video, promptly placed on YouTube for everyone to watch.

The campaign looks to be a huge hit. I’ve seen quite a few celebrity responses so far and all of the videos seem to have at least more than 300 views. The more popular ones have several thousand or more. The marketing campaign officially ended early this morning at around 1 a.m. mountain time with a final video, which I’ve embedded below.

I haven’t been able to watch all of them, but I have watched quite a few. I would guess I’ve watched at least more than 50. You can catch them all on the Old Spice channel on YouTube if you want to spend all day catching up. Here are my favorites so far along with the comments that prompted their creation.

Anonymous wrote “Use old spice. Our dads use it, our grand fathers used it, because it works. Stop asking or begging for hugs. You smell bad!”

You control Pete as he travels through his own subconsciousness as he explores this weird new world trying to find his way out of the coma he’s in. I actually don’t know what his goal really is, but that’s what I figured it was about.

The game is very artistic and the design is beautiful. The game is a little weird and kind of hard to see in some scenes, but it’s simple and fun and is well deserving of you completing it.
