There should be some sort of digital-bread-crumb-placing-device that can lead you back to an original website from where you found an even greater more magnificent website. Don’t you think?

This morning, I was a little click-happy; clicking unfamiliar links, clicking the forward and back button, copying and pasting links, clicking new tabs, and so forth, I found myself to a site that holds a plethora of Photography, Photoshop, Multimedia and even Text (short story) contests. (I’m even a little ashamed to admit that I haven’t discovered this website until now…) I don’t even know at this point exactly how I discovered this site. But I did, I’m glad that I did, so now in turn, I’m sharing this with you.

Worth1000 holds competitions for any and every skill level one may hold in the artsy, creative, and digital-art world. When I first stumbled onto this great little array of digital mediums, I was pretty impressed. My first instinct was to click (there’s that method again!) the Photoshop tab, but being the impartial person that I am, I did explore (click) the other three tabs, revealing what it had to offer as well.

A few of my favorite contests (…partially placed under the Photoshop tab) that were held were Celebrity Tombstones 2, predominantly Dead Heroes, the Steve Jobs ones, Death Retired, Claude Rains and GrimSpa. Also Chocolate 4. Almost all of these were really well put together. Almost…

Giving away the Prestige.

Like a magician has his secrets that he'll happily take to the grave, an artist is the same way. Very rarely does a hard-core artist show the path to completion of their masterpiece. It’s like what Michelangelo said, “If people knew how hard I worked to get my mastery, it wouldn't seem so wonderful at all.” This was what impressed me with this site- it’s totally a learning experience. Artists are letting other artists learn from them. So beginners, feel free to soak the knowledge of a professional. Some of the entries have source files, showing you the different images they used to get their final image. Mix the source files and the tutorials that Worth1000 offers; you have a free class of Photoshop 101!

I can go on and on about Worth1000, but if I give all of it away, there’s no room for you to get click-happy and discover what Worth1000 is all about.
