Two Headed Turtle Turning Heads

A two headed turtle has been purchased by a pet store in Pennsylvania to be put on display. It is a red-eared slider, which is a very common pet, but this turtle sure isn't common and the store isn't planning on selling it.

Right now the turtle(s) are two months old, have a pair of front feet on both sides, one set of back feet and one tail. The conjoined twins are also reported to be very healthy, so this one could live for quite a while. Weird.

Follow Your Dreams

Paul Potts wanted to be an opera singer and decided to go on Britain's Got Talent. You can tell by watching the video that he didn't have a whole lot of courage and nobody thought he was going to really have talent. Once he began to sing, everybody's heart dropped and they felt the passion and emotion in his voice. A must watch.

Spray on Condom

This isn't like the normal type of post I put on this site, but I thought it was an interesting story.

A businessman named Ravi Narain has claimed to have invented a spray on condom. His former employer, Citrofresh International has claimed "without reasonable grounds that the use of its product as a post-coital application would act as an invisible condom and that this would have a significant impact on reducing the transmission of HIV and sexually transmitted diseases." They have also claimed that their product is "non-hazardous, non-toxic and effective solution that dealt with emergency disease control and prevention for HIV, human influenza A virus, SARS and human rhinovirus." Sounds good right? Well, it's these statements that have gotten them in trouble in the Federal Court of Australia, declaring that they have engaged in misleading conduct.

Ravi Narain was the managing director at Citrofresh at the time of these claims, but has since resigned from his position at the company. He is possibly facing up to a $400,000 maximum penalty. There haven't been any facts announced as of yet proving that the product does not work though. I would never trust a product like that anyway. If it ever hits store shelves, you can test it and let me know how it feels to be a parent...or have a disease. Never mind, don't tell me.

Beautifying the Dirty Streets

Seems like all the interesting free art are outside the country nowadays. Take for example some cunning street art in Sao Paulo. A few local artists of Sao Paulo painted some cartoonish characters on the storm sewer openings. Take a look at them here. I wish Denver had some paintings like these. But we like to stick to freakishly tall dancing ballerinas and painted cows here.

Vampire Art

I don't know who Druunatic is, but she has a taste for the darker side of photography. Some really cool stuff on her website. Check out this vampire inspired photography. I like.

Do You Like Rasterbating?

I love rasterbating. If I could, I'd rasterbate everyday. And I know if you could, you'd raterbate everyday too. No, it's not what you think. Get your head out of the gutter! Rasterbator is a great program that creates massive rasterized images resulting in one single multi-page image. Make sense? You can make it from your very own created art piece, from a poster or an image from online. The online version of the Rasterbator has size limitations, however, you can download free a version where the sky is the limit. Have fun!

25 Most Ridiculous Band Names in Rock History

This is just a fun read. We have all heard a ton of just plain stupid band names and cracked.com has gathered some of the stupidest and explained their reasoning behind their choices. I really like the story, but I can honestly say that I don't agree with all of their choices and think there are much stupider band names out there that could have been added. Funny story nonetheless. Check it yo!

Falling Sand Game

This is just a really fun idea. Sand falls from the sky and you get to move it, shape it, and guide it. Make some really cool designs and just experiment. Make walls, use plants to guide the falling sand, drop oil and water from the sky and use fire to burn away sand you don't want. They only thing I don't understand is the lemon shaped thing bouncing around the screen. What the hell is that? Check out the Falling Sand Game and waste some time.

Pulp Friction

Here's a creative idea if I ever saw one...

I've always been interested in the vintage design of the 30's, 40's, and 50's; the colors, fonts, illustrations- it's just so different from today's design that I think the design back then had more creativity to it. Well, Mr. Thomas Allen took the approach of putting together that design with this design creating a viewer-suggestive pop-up picture story.

The artworks are all cut out by hand (no Photoshop layers in this baby!), lit on set, staged and titled in a manner where the viewer makes up their own story. Above is one of my favorites he did, but they're all really creative and well put together.

Damn, I wish I thought of this.

Qwerty Warriors 2

This is just a really fun game. Qwerty Warriors 2 is a game where you type the letters of a word in order to shoot the enemies. There are also powerups that will come down with the enemies for you to shoot as well. Can you type fast? I can actually type pretty fast, so this game is quite a bit of fun to me. Many people really like typing games though, and this one provides different difficulty levels, so there is an option for everyone. Type the words before you are killed.

Comparing Fast Food Ads to The Real Deal

You know those fast food ads you see on TV or in the newspaper or something? That food looks damn good usually doesn't it. But when you go get it and take it home, you open up the wrapper to find a big ugly mess. Well Jeff Kay's West Virginia Surf Report (great name) has gathered a bunch of photos of what the food looks like in the advertisements and what it actually looked like when he brought it home.

Perverted Plates

Well, not really, but some people might think so. Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art has created an exhibit called The Dinner Party and all of the plates resemble the female genitalia. Take a look for yourself. You know you want to.

Exploring Diverse Mediums

Something I would really love to do (once financially steady) is to explore the array of art mediums out there; from photography (of course) to watercolor to pastels to sculpting. One day, I would like to have a room in my home filled with canvases leaning against the walls, photographs hanging from yarn string and clothe-pins, handmade pottery and abstract sculptures sporadically placed on the floor, and sketch books towering over you. I want to let my inner artist completely take over me; leaving the reasoning, analytical, cautious and prudent self behind.Read the whole story

I Lived on the Moon

With this stunning animation and flowing music supporting it, it's one of my most favorite shorts I've seen...ever... The picture ran very smooth, immaculate details throughout the entire piece, and a touching story line to pull it all together.

It starts off by a father telling his son that he has once lived on the moon; revealing a world of flying snakes and three-tailed monkeys; escaping the chaotic world that we dwell in day to day. The creatures throughout the film were very bizarre yet emitted a friendly aura. The only characters that had a malicious nature were that of the harsh sun; that I believe represented the present world.

Gratify the eccentric self within; watch this impressive animation.

The Graffiti Project

The Graffiti Project has a really simple, yet imaginative and artistic idea. Four of the world's leading graffiti artists have gathered to take the art form of Brazilian graffiti out if it's urban context and use it in the ancient walls of Kelburn Castle in Scotland. Incredible Hockey Fights

I walked past a co-worker the other day who is an avid hockey fan, specifically for the Buffalo Sabres, and he was watching some videos on YouTube. I asked him if he wanted to join me in a game of HORSE outside, but he said he wanted to watch his videos and get back to work, so I watched one of them with him before I went out. I thought it was a pretty damn good fight, so I asked him to send it to me so I could check it out again later. The result was an email with several more interesting hockey fight videos, and I thought I would share them with you. Read the whole story.

Mona Lisa Metamorphosis

Traditional art has a very significant and vivid feel, I think. You may have seen something like this before on You Tube, but this video moves very efficiently and flawlessly. There are various 20th Century art that’s animated into one another. Great show, boring music, though. Check it out below.

The Face of Age

This particular project started with the photographer, Mark Story, wanting to photograph people who exhibit extreme aging in their face. He then became more excited in photographing centenarians, or people who have lived more than 100 years and then went on to supercentenarians, who have actually lived in three different centuries. The photos on this site are really great. Definitely check it out; Living In Three Centuries: The Face of Age.

Flip the Script

I’m a huge fan of movies and even a bigger fan of the movie posters. It not only illustrates the A-list stars, but the pure art and capacity of photography, graphic design, and advertising.

I am most familiar with the more contemporary films, specifically in the drama and suspense category; but the posters from Children of the Corn, The Philadelphia Story, and Casablanca are always very much interesting and inspiring.

Take a look here and see how 50 talented artists interpreted various recent and deep-rooted movies creating their own version of the movie posters.
