I just purchased a new home on January 15th, and I don’t think I’ve ever been so busy in my life. This is my first house so there’s a lot for me to learn and I just found an article over at ThisOldHouse.com called 50 Nifty Tricks for Big DIY Savings that should help me quite a bit.
The article has so many useful tips, all categorized by how much they can save you, from $50 up to $500 per year, and give you great examples of how to do it.

- Close closet doors to lower the square footage you’re heating (and cooling)
 - Use your microwave instead of your range
 - Shop for phone, electric, and cable service at Whitefence.com
 - Get the contractor discount on home-improvement products

I’m not sure how much you can save if you put all 50 tips to use, but I’m betting you’ll be a millionaire in about 3 years.
